VETERANS OF FOREIGN WARS (VFW) NEW HAVEN HOSTING ORGANIZATIONAL MEETING
NEW HAVEN, CONN (April 30, 2015)—The forming Veterans of Foreign Wars New Haven post is hosting an organizational meeting for all charter members and eligible veterans who would like to be charter members, at the New Haven Elks Lodge #25 at 7 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2015.
This meeting will briefly go over the functions and programs of the VFW, select temporary officers, and outline the way forward for this “new generation” post. All eligible veterans (US citizen, served in combat zone, served honorably) are urged to attend to find out how a traditional, volunteer-led veterans service organization will benefit them, our community, and our country.
Charles M. Pickett, an Iraq and Afghanistan veteran and graduate student at Southern Connecticut State University (SCSU), said the forming post already has 39 members of the 35 needed. He said all but two have served during the Global War on Terror (GWOT) and most are student veterans or from the 102nd Infantry Regiment.
Organizers can be reached through email (VFWNewHaven@gmail.com), voice mail (203-443-1643) and social media (Facebook.com/VFWNewHaven).
