VFW New Haven Announces 2021 Youth & Education Awards

NEW HAVEN, CONN. (Nov. 17, 2020)–The Veterans of Foreign Wars of the United States New Haven Post 12150 Incorporated has announced their 2021 Youth & Education contest winners.

High School History Teacher John Buell of The Sound School Regional Vocational Aquaculture Center  in New Haven took the post Smart/Maher VFW National Citizenship Education Teacher of the Year award. Buell, who has been teaching at Sound since 1997, is retiring after 33-years this spring.

Anne Brasseaux of The Sound School Regional Vocational Aquaculture Center in New Haven won the post-level Voice of Democracy audio-essay contest on, “Is This the Country the Founding Fathers Envisioned?”

Thomas F. McCormack of Wilton took first place in the post Patriot’s Pen essay contest on “What is Patriotism to Me?”

Congratulations to our post winners as they advanced to the VFW Department of Connecticut District 2 judging in November and possibly to the state-wide competition in December.
